Itala Flores is a mix media Artist and a fashion designer, native to Venezuela. Itala Earned a degree in Marketing administration in her native Country while always keeping her passion for art alive, As time passed she realized the need to come to USA in order to follow her dreams, after some time she met her husband Luis, also an Artist, and eighteen years later they are still together raising their two boys in NC, As an artist she is the creator of a new pottery technique called DRYPOTT, which are Handmade pieces using gypsum compound. This material is normally used with paper tape to seal the joins between sheets of drywall to create seamless base for paint in interior walls, but for Itala is the best material to create her pottery pieces. In 2017 she became an alumni for Art Pop street gallery in Charlotte NC, receiving as an award promoting her artwork on available media spaces, as billboards, news racks and in the airport terminal, displaying her artwork for the entire year of 2017.
In September 2017 she was invited to participate in her very first fashion recyclable runway for Charlotte fashion week winning first place by both, judges and people choice, that help her find the right artistic direction to continue following her dreams and progress her skills, In March 2018 she presented her first showcase in la mode seen in Charlotte, NC receiving very positive critical acclaim, the same year she showcase her collection at New York fashion week and Paris fashion week featuring her dress at Harper Bazar Magazine, Itala is keep working in different fashions shows in the area as Boom Festival, Labor of love, Fashion excursion, Asia National Pageant, Recycle the runway at Northlake mall, Charleston Fashion week and two more special runways: I’m possible fashion show and Art of fashion both make to raise money for kids with special needs.
Itala also have 3 permanent exhibitions of her recyclable dresses here in Charlotte at ImaginOn: The Joe & Joan Martin Center, and in South Carolina at Steeplechase of Charleston.
At this time Itala is an active student of visual art at CPCC, part of the recyclable designer team for Opera Carolina recyclable and part of the board of director for Team Topher a local nonprofit organization, also she is an active community volunteer.
